OUR LIBRARY
Our ambition is for Crown Hills Community College to be a ‘reading school’ with reading, both for purpose and for pleasure, embedded within the culture of the college. The promotion of a strong reading culture can, and does, have a major, positive impact on children and their futures as adults. In line with the school values of aspiration and commitment, we want our students to be the best readers that they can be. We, therefore, want to encourage and increase our students’ independent reading of increasingly challenging (fiction and non-fiction) material.
Our school library lies at the heart of an active programme of reading-related events including reading challenges, booktalking sessions, author visits, and activities linked to World Book Day, National Poetry Day and other celebrations throughout the year. A termly library newsletter keeps students and their families informed of the latest news and events, as well as student reviews and recommended reads.
