Teaching & Learning
At Crown Hills we have a research-led approach to teaching and learning. Outlined below is our teaching and learning temple, which details to teachers:
- Aspiration - how to plan lessons (temple steps)
- Commitment - which pedagogical principles they should incorporate into learning episodes (the 5 pillars of the temple)
- Success - how to use assessment, and specifically responsive teaching, effectively in lessons (the temple roof)
On the reverse of the temple, we also ensure teachers are clear on how to incorporate oracy, support reading, writing and vocabulary development. In addition, there are also some reminders to staff on inclusive practice. In line with the SEND Code of Practice (2015), we know that high quality teaching and learning ensures the needs of all learners are met in the classroom. The teaching and learning temple supports this at all stages.
